Our children want a dog. They have asked and asked and Dan and I refuse. Neither one of us has even a tiny desire to obtain a dog. I was hesitant about the hamsters. I am not at all interested in dogs. Not to mention that I have had some unpleasant experiences with dogs in the past. Dogs need lots of attention and care. I wouldn't want to take on caring for an animal that requires so much. Our two cats are very affectionate and come around for hugs and such but they are not a ton of work to care for.
Abby, our little force of nature, has decided to find a way to serve her inner dog whisperer. She will not be kept from caring for dog creatures because we are unwilling to buy her a puppy. Last week she started a little project in our neighborhood. She went to every household in our neighborhood that owns a dog. There are fair number and she knows every dog by name. She offered the owners this: for a two dollar fee, she will walk the dog around the neighborhood and give it a good brushing. All money collected will then be donated to a local animal shelter. Everyone wins.
How does she come up with all of these great ideas????????????? I am very proud of her initiative and generosity.
